We have terrible irrigation water. It is full of organic matter and we are having algae popping up everywhere on our paspalum greens. Has anyone used a product with success. I have used Zerotol (algacide) as a preventative at another course but never as a currative.

I have used Zero Tol, but RD-20 from Southern AG works best. It is a greenhouse sterilant that is labeled for turf. It works.

i have heard that spotrete, chlorothalonil, and mancozeb in a tank mix sprayed 14 days apart will smoke moss.

I use Fore/Mancozeb at 6oz/m. Works well for us, however every golf course is different.

One more product to look into - Junction. It's got some mancozeb in it but it also has copper hydroxide. Works well when applied properly. Nothing like seeing algae curl up and blow away!

Quicksilver smokes moss and desired turf doesn't bat an eye.

Not exactly. When I was in Atlanta we battled moss, and Quicksilver only discolored it for 10-12 days, and even with several sequential applications using a NIS it always came back. As well, it had a growth regulator effect on the A-1, and it would shut down for about the same time period of 10-12 days. Fall applications would severely discolor the bermuda grass on our tie-ins and approaches around the greens.
