Looking to purchase a decent wire tracer. Doesn't need to be fancy, just be able to trace and locate buried wires. Thanks.

Great unit made here in Birmingham. Around $1000, but simple and effective. One will last you a lifetime. http://www.pipehorn.com/pages/products/800series%20pipe%20locator.htm

We use a dynatel 2273 from 3M. Works really well, easy to use, accurate for depth, fault finding mechanism, etc. Can't recall the cost, but it was high. We've had it for 9 years and have had no problems what so ever.

Good one for tracking wire, etc. Can locate breaks with it as well occasionally.

This is best for finding the breaks once you traced the wire with the other. This will put you right on top of the break.
