   In Colorado (not in the mountains!) we are open all winter, weather dependent. We usually let our seasonal employees go in late November or early December. There is usually enough tree work and other little things to keep the four of us (Super, me, the assistant, mechanic and irrigation tech) busy. I would like to be creative and suggest some projects for us to work on during the winter, but I seem to be out of creative juices. Any ideas of fun or cool projects any of you have worked on during the winter? We are a public municipal course that does o.k. financially so we would have a little money to spend.    I have a vegetable garden that I grow starts from seeds. Vegetables are utilized by our Chef.
   
   What about constructing a basic greenhouse and attempting to grow your own plants or annuals from seed? There are lots of youtube videos on constructing grow houses.

   Thumb through some wood working books. I'm sure you've thought of bird houses, bat houses, etc. But up your game to signage, furniture, etc. You can get plans and patterns for Adirondack chairs that look pretty darn good sitting on the clubhouse lawn. We even built a small Gazebo one winter and forklifted it out of the shop. Windy and cold in Washington DC today. Good luck. Kenneth Ingram, UMD.

   Depending on how much snow you have you can lay some pavers. When I was in KY we were working on all of our turn arounds, and driveway crossings. The cold is good because it helps keep the sand tight while laying the bricks, plus you don't have to deal with play that way.

   We are building a heated room in our cold storage area to expand our ability to do woodworking, refinishing, etc. without interfering with our mechanic and his many duties.
   
   Considering a wall mounted air conditioner to take the edge off in the summer and using it as another work area/ break room.
