I am wondering what every one's daily cart rules are during the winter. 90degrees or Cart Path Only? Not worried about wet conditions as I am sure most everyone goes Cart Path Only then, I am curious about the day to day policy. Also, I am most concerned about Courses in the Transition Zone with dormant Bermuda or Zoysia. Please let me know also if you are a daily fee or Private Club. Thanks guys,

I have always been Cart Path Only during winter, at every course I have been at, and never have had much member grief, all of a sudden this year I am getting beaten up. I do not think my roughs or fairways will handle all of our traffic. BUT "Everyone else is 90 degrees".....
    Thanks Again.

    Jason,

I am at a course in Branson, MO and we are all bermuda except for our greens. We average around 35,000 rounds per year and our bermuda in the summer takes a beating from all of the cart traffic.
In the winter we currently allow 90 degrees. Just yesterday my pro and I were discussing making it cart path only through the entire winter. We are really starting to show severe wear areas where the carts go over the same track. I have always said these golfers are just like cattle, make a trail and they will sure follow it.
I think I am going to make it cart path only starting after the new year. We are a daily fee facility.
    Hope this helps.

We are in southwest Virginia and I try to get them off the path any chance I can.We are private with bermdua fairways and a mix of bermuda, zoysia ,and fescues in the rough. We do not get enough play to really do much damage. We have four places where I tell my people if they do a circle or donut and there is not mud then we can let the golfers use 90 degree rule.I let the golfers know that we have test areas so they don't think we just keep them off for a power trip.I also explain that we are a mountian course and have safty concerns during cart path only days.

We are a private HOA in north Texas that gets around 50,000 rds/yr. Our fairways take a beating with the 90 degree rule and by late winter the members would rather play off the rough-whats left of it. They will not agree to CPO at this time so we have started closing 3 holes per side per week to carts. Ex. 2,5,9,12,16,18 then rotate to different holes next week. Seems to help quite a bit but not as much as CPO I would guess.

    Jason,

Here in Tokyo - transition zone - basically all year we are cart path only except on Fridays, weekends and Holidays, 90 degree rule when we have the bulk of our play. Par 3 holes are always cart path only - and approaches to greens are marked no carts. Our 90 degree is more like a 180 or 360 degree rule but we are spared alot of damage during the week. Use ropes and move them around to spread the wear and also use the rubber turf matts. All zoysia matrella fairways and approaches with common for rough. Spreading the wear out seems to help the best until growing season returns.
