We are looking into overlaying our existing asphalt paths with additional asphalt or concrete. In my limited research concrete over asphalt is called white-topping and if done thin enough it is called ultra thin white-topping. My questions to you are... has anyone tried the concrete overlay before? price comparisons? longevity? and are you satisfied with the finished product?

We are getting ready to do the same thing. We have a member who has been in the concrete business for 50+ years. He has a machine that can be pulled behind the concrete truck and it will "slip form" the concrete. He did all of the concrete paths here some 20 odd years ago with the same machine. Now we are going to lay over the asphalt paths. The amount they said it would cost is $500.00 for every 100 feet. That is just the price of the concrete. I am not so sure about the process but this club always has members wanting to donate time, equipment, and money so I just kind of go along for the ride and learn as we go. There have been some ideas that have been suggested that I haven't agreed with but it's their golf course not mine and all I can do is try to make the best out of the situation. Good luck. I think we are going to start next month if we do I will put something on here.

We overlay asphalt with 4" of 3000 psi fiber reinforced all the time, but only where grade allows. if your 4" higher in certain spots it will cause ponding or redirect drainage. in those areas we use a skid steer to scrape off the asphalt first in order to maintain proper grade.
