Has anyone else seen declining numbers of golfers at their facility's?

I can't tell you how much down right now... But when your tee sheet is slow on your busiest days of the week... Weather has driven some of it I do know.

also, I have a neighboring course that has closed, so you'd though you'd expect to see some uptick in rounds.

Doing this golf course super thing for 20 plus seasons, it's not the slowest, but isn't far from it.

5 plus hr. rounds are driving them away. I wish I knew the solution.

We are packed, had our busiest season since '08 (southwest Florida) even with our slow season here (summer) we are still very busy.

Our rounds have seen a small percentage of increase for the past four years. Four years ago we stopped overseeding and saw an 8% increase in rounds. We are on track this year to be even better since new home construction has been booming.

    Doug:
I feel your pain. Were having a slow spring with golfers. On the real nice days the course is packed, but there havent been that many perfect days and with the weather workers being off so much lately I think that is driving some of the golf away. The longer rounds is a point to be noted. Everyones time is more valuable now, no one has time for a long round, which is sad. I would think that people would love to be able to get out and relax and play for 5 hours, but everyone is so busy. Maybe switch to a 4 day work week like some countries???
We are a long course, mostly open, but just flat out long. Trying to figure out a way to get a "QUICK 9" done for some of our busy lakes people while not shortening the course so much as to lose overall intention.

We certainly aren't back to pre-2008 numbers but we've noticed a good uptick in greens fees, we've added 20+ new annual members this year, and the tournament participation seems to be up. I see the later as an indicator of the local economy, we have 12 scrambles a year for various charities and participation dropped as much as 40% during the recession, most of them have seen pretty good increases with 3-4 actually back to full capacity this spring. The people who play in these things aren't your die-hard golfers, parting with the $80-$100 entry fee isn't easy for a lot of these people unless the money is there. Hang in there, things will look up soon.

We're packed. Over-full membership. Average age of weekly player is getting younger - late 30's now.
