Just curious......is there any data that shows VerdeCal or VerdeCal-G as being 4X more effective than conventional calcitic lime or gypsum? If not, has anyone out there done a comparison? Any thoughts would be great. It does appear that my pH's have not stayed as high as I want them since using conventional calcitic lime at 2-3 times the rate of Verde-Cal. Soil test recommendations tell me to go out at 40# Calcitic lime per 1000. Can I go out with 10# of VerdeCal. This sure makes it easier to apply, and they claim much faster results.

I have not used the VerdeCal-G.

    Thanks,'

    Kevin:

I can't answer your comparison question, but I can say that the vertical g and k cal products are excellent. I use the k cal right after my spring aerification. I use the vertical G more in the fall. I call the vertical G an indirect fertilizer. I try and apply it when I know a large rain event is coming. It does a great job flushing salts through after a prolonged period of irrigating. You will see a huge flush of growth as the product will release all the tied up nutrients in the soil. Rooting and surface firmness is increased with the product. Be careful using the k cal during the summer. The potassium will burn! I used less nitrogen because of the vertical product line. I just keep pulling tied up nutrition out of the soil and allowing the plants to utilize them. Run with them. Hope this helps.

I use the 3-0-10 all the time on the greens and love love love it. I can control my N and not have to guess when the methylene urea will release. Also has the Ca and K that my greens need desperatley.

I am a big K guy and not so much for the controlled release N products, just in case that wasnt clear above :)

We have a severe sodium issue on our #3 fairway that has been an issue since the golf course opened. If we go more than three days without watering these sodium affected areas the turf and soil will turn as white as a sheet of paper. As carts drive over the area you can see a sodium dust cloud behind the wheels. For the past two seasons I have been applying VerdeCal-G three times per season to the affected areas on our fairway and have seen dramatic improvements. I notice a green up of the area after a couple days, but the largest improvement is that I have been able to get ryegrass seed to germinate in the worst areas. Before VerdeCal-G we used to apply gypsum to these areas but it always felt like a waste of money. With the visual and playability improvements that VerdiCal-G has shown I can easily justify the cost of the product.
