Just curious who is using velocity to take poa intrusion out of bentgrass greens. Reading the label, I haven't found much in terms of use on greens, and I'd like to ask you all that are doing it. I believe the fall is the time to do it, in a couple applications. I'm most worried about the application outside of collars damaging the surrounds. Any advice on rates, re-application intervals and best practices for application are what I'm looking for. Thanks in advance to those who choose to share any info.

You will want to keep within the perimeters of the green/collar surfaces. Particularly if you have Kent Blue as your primary surrounds grass. The KB does not like the Velocity. It doesn't kill it but it certainly causes some phyto issues.

It is not labeled for use on greens. There are several strategies. I found going in the spring more useful with very light frequent rates. As long as you don't apply during extremes (heat or cold) it was relatively safe. Start at low rates and slowly work your way up to determine the tolerance of your bent. Be careful, the stuff works! Make sure you know how much poa you have and how much you are willing to lose. I rotate away from it for several years to avoid resistance. It is not a silver bullet, it is just another, very effective, tool in combating poa in bent.

We are using it on our greens at .45g/1000. Basically make a circle of the green making sure not to get any in our dwarf IR's, then spray the green out like normal. Like to spray when temps are above 70, works better in the heat, however next season we are going to begin spraying earlier in the season as we have been told it is good to start to load the plant up. Saw alot of kill this year around the edges, which is partly attributed to the fact that doing the circle means this area is getting a double rate to some extent and the fact that we measured out our collars this spring, and the poa that was cut down to greens height was under a lot more stress anyway. Didn't see any negative effects on the bent, although last season we mixed some iron in with it to try and mask any yellowing. Spray once every two weeks, using spray hawks, 1gal/1000.
