    Quick question,

I am looking to update all my MSDS sheets to SDS? I was wondering, I printed off two today and one was revised in 3/15/12 and the other on 11/20/13. Both have the same format it seems (same manufacturer). Do both of these seem to be the updated versions that we should be following now with the new global law? (they are Curalan and Emerald), I am not so much worried about dates since I figure they were not going to wait until the last-minute?

    Thanks!

    Mel,

I just glanced at the Curalan sheet, yes it appears to be updated to the new standard. However I would bet there will be a few that aren't yet, as I believe they have a 2015 deadline to update all SDS sheets on the manufacturing side.

    Thanks Andrew,

I will keep checking myself as I go through this process and I'll try update what I see here. I probably have about 5 mini-projects like this going and will try to do a couple a day since it isn't up high on the priority list. (It's my normal routine, I go from project to project...I'm sure its a sign of something).

Just noticed on a different company website that they still have an MSDS from 2005 for a product I use, so it seems not everyone has updated yet, and it wasn't in the same format as the BASF ones, and I'm still courious if they will all be the same format. Will check on some other websites later to see if formats change on updated sheets.

I did also check out Drive XLR* on BASF's site and they had an updated SDS from March 2012 in the same format as the Curlan and Emerald. I did have the old MSDS sheet for Drive (10/18/07 version 1.4) and it was similar if format but updated with some new information under the same topic listings.

Were there pictures on them? They all have to have pictograms now.

From my understanding the chemical companies have till June 1, 2015 to have all MSDS changed over to the SDS format. Some companies have already started, but will not have them completed till close to the deadlines the government has set.

    Daniel,

The ones I have come across don't yet, so I'm guessing they are not updated to the new format.

Our parks department is starting training classes over the next couple of weeks. I will hopefully see what they are suppose to look like when fully updated?

    Thanks!

Mel, the other responses were correct, suppliers and manufacturers have until 2015 to update labels and SDS's. This short video gives some decent information on new requirements. Hopefully some training was done by your employer on these changes, it was required all employees be trained on GHS/SDS and what to look for on new sheets by 12-1-13.

We went through training yesterday, the one thing I did learn was according to our instructor, we don't have to have printed sheets; we could have them available electronically.

I'm thinking this might be a good way to get an electronic job board, maybe just put up the SDS sheet of the product that is being applied. Doesn't do much for shop supplies but will use any excuse to move use into this century.
