I have a 2007 TruTurf RS48-11B roller, and the rubberized coating on the drive roller has finally worn through down to the bare steel drum. Of course, Truturf wants close to $1400 for a new roller....

The bearings are all good in the current one, I have just found that the traction is greatly reduced without the rubberized coating. I am looking at both some brush on and spray on rubberized EPDM coatings, thinking about just trying to do that instead of buying the entirely new drum for the insane price. Has anyone else tried this? Any particular product work and for how long did it last?

Sam I had mine re-coated by Synaflex Rubber Products Co. two years ago and it is still in great shape (we use it all the time). The only problem we ran into was we were one of the first ones they had done so the first coat was too thick to fit back on the machine, we sent it back with no problems and got the correct thickness and it worked perfect. Contact Rosco at Synaflex 800-633-2448. I can't remember the exact cost but it was less than half of a new roller.

Find a truck dealer that can do Linex bed liners and get them to put a coat on the drums.

You might try Undercoat in a spray can. It would be a cheap experiment.

How about that spray stuff that's advertised on TV....yanno, the one where the guy installs a screen door in a boat, sprays it on, and then goes fishing? I bet that would work like a champ!!
