   I am posting to see what the thoughts were on synthetic turf on golf courses. If you have used them, what are the pros and cons about it? How did people react to using them? If you prefer natural grass, why? Please enlighten me.

   "GCSAA's online discussion forums are provided as a service of GCSAA and are intended to provide GCSAA members the opportunity to communicate with their peers" I would like the feedback of peers who have utilized it.    Are you asking the question for the purpose of using synthetic turf at your facility? Or are you asking to gain the perspective of potential clients?

   To hear experiences of using synthetic turf. Have you used it and have opinions of it that you are willing to share? If you are idly waiting to answer the question, please do so. I will not harass you to buy my product, I simply want to hear other people's experience, opinion, and to gain knowledge for myself. Or rather are you fully interested in me and my company because I would be happy to share on a different method of communication, if not I am patiently awaiting others' responses.

    Based on how this is going...I'll respond:
    I may or may not have used them.
    There are definitely pros and cons.
    And, I'm still trying to find out exactly what the fact pattern is on peoples reaction to synthetic turf.

    I have worked with dozens of top football clubs as natural turfgrass advisor. These include Barcelona, Real Madrid, Manchester United, and many other top clubs none of which use artifical turf on their main pitches.
    
    There is a general belief that artifical turf is very low maintenance. This is not true it is just about the same.
    
    FIFA have allowed artificial pitches to very high levels of competition, I believe even to a semifinal of Champion's League. Some countries even have artificial turf in their national stadium.
    
    The big advantage of artifical is you can have very high number of games played. Disadvantage is player injury.
    
    Remember the early days of NFL and hip pointers. I am sure things have improved but injury is still a concern.Natural playability is also a question.
    
    As for golf, my practice facility is natural on ground level and mats on lower level. Hardly anyone uses the mats. Many golf clubs in Europe are installing artificial practice facilities by Southwest Greens, Huxley, and a couple other manufacturers.

    I have seen very nice examples of synthetic turf greens and even surrounds. I think it is ideal for condos, resorts, hotels and homes that do not have the expertise or ready resources to maintain a living putting green. They have a nice one at the Palm Beach International Airport in the terminal and there are many in The Keys of Florida. Heat seems to be the big drawback for ballfields, but that is not normally a problem with golf because the area can be shaded more easily.
    
    They might have on in Miami too, but PBI was the airport I was thinking of.

    looks like they might have a good product however I agree this is not the place to sell. It may be a good idea if GCSAA set up a line in forums just for this type of thing.
