Im planning on putting my Toro Proforce near a green tomorrow to help with air movement. I have never done this before and would like some advice from those who have.
How high is the throttle? How far off a green do you put it? How long does a tank of gas last? Do you point the air shoot toward the surface of the green or slightly up.
I have used fans before and will be getting one this upcoming spring. But for time being the blower is what I have.

    Thanks for the help

I've used those, tractor blowers, and my mechanics shop fan with a generator (wouldn't recommend stealing mechanics shop fan :). I have precision fans on every green, but sometimes I will need a little extra on some far sides. I would run it as wide open as your members can deal with from a noise level. Just make sure it is blowing across the green and not down on it or it will wilt the area in front of the blower. It is not going to make it through the night on a tank of gas unless your mechanic can rig up a larger external tank.

I have a green that has trees on 3 sides, but have cleared the understory so I can use my Buffalo Blower in the same scenario as you want to.

I usually put in on the ground near the approach (40-60 ft from the green)and aim the discharge shoot at the flag. I never aim the putting surface. As for throttle, I usually have it near the halfway point, just enough to get the flag to start to flap in the breeze. All you need is about a 5-7 mph wind in order to create cooling. Sometime we'll go out and move the aim from side to side. You'll have to experiment with it.

As for length of time on a tank? We've gotten 5 hours out of half throttle. I've never left it out all night though.

    Good luck.

    Thanks Doug and Mike.

I will experiment to see where is the best location for it.

    Thanks again!!
