I get very frustrated with NSN. I barely use their support and ever since Microsoft quit XP support Toro NSN is making upgradeing very expensive for me as a seasonal users in the NE. I'm curious how many Sitepro users use and pay for support or go with the pay as you go plan.

After 14 years, I'm not renewing. I feel I've learned enough that I don't need them. Never have used them for hardware replacement as it's simply a computer. No need to buy their "special" stuff.

I've had only positive experiences with tech support and hardware replacement. Yes its expensive and doesn't get used too often, but when it is needed its great to call them and have them fix the problem quickly instead of me spending a day on the computer trying to figure it out myself. 2 years ago we had our computer crash about 2 weeks from when we were scheduled for renewal and upgrade of all our software/equipment. They sent us a rebuilt one within 2 days and all I had to do was plug it in and everything was good to go. 2 weeks later we got our brand new one delivered and were allowed to keep the rebuilt one as well.

We are paying about $225 equivalent for 1 more year for technical support and the new Win 7 computer that we got 1 year ago.

After completely restructuring my Sitepro this winter, I can work circles around NSN and I know my golf course like no one else.

But, I was just thinking that without NSN I would not have remote access to program the irrigation computer.

When this payment schedule runs out I will get the minimum that allows me remote access.

As for the remote issue, you can download a program called Team Viewer on your computer and phone. I didn't have support when I moved to my current position and this program allows me to access my entire computer from my phone. You basically see your entire monitor screen on your phone. Takes some getting used to but it's another option for remote control.

I had NSN for the free 1 year trial, and never saw a need or justification for the service after that. TeamViewer is the way to go for remote access. If something happens to the pc most IT departments or services can repair the issues for a low cost. Just my opinion, but it seems like there are several services out there for turf professionals that are charging outrageous amounts of money for something that, with a little know-how and effort, could be free or very low cost. That being said, if i had the money, i would probably utilize some of those services, but I don't, so I try to find alternative methods.

It would be nice if they allowed you to buy upgrades to the software without having to be in a contract

We don't hesitate when we receive the yearly subscription invoice.

NSN has come through for us whenever we've needed them, including
    hardware shipped to us overnight.

It's reassuring to know that I'll never be left hanging as we never get rain
on this island in the summer. Winter, different story!

Went rogue beginning 2012. I just replaced my xp NSN computer with a rebuilt model for $ 150 for mico centers. Had to have our on call IT service reload xp and Toro has to come by to help me with a couple of software issues. Did have to replace the repeater as well a couple of years ago. Total spent in 3.5 years under $ 1,000. I understand the xp issue with security. I proposed to replace but almost all of our clubhouse computers run xp. Like everything else, you learn to adapt and do what you have to do. If your operation can afford it, I would stay with the service.
