I'm looking to upgrade my field controllers and central controller this winter / spring. My building does not have internet and I want to put the central station in the pro shop and use the app for most of the rain holds, manual irrigating and syringing.

I am attending the GIS next week so any feedback will be appreciated, so I can be prepared at at each vendors booth with the appropriate concerns.

I currently use Legacy Genesis from 1999

Does Hunter even offer an app?

    Thank you very much.

We just upgraded to Lynx last year, and I'm learning new things about it everytime I use it. Its an excellent system, 100% upgrade on SitePro and on a dry, sandy property where I pay a good amount for reclaimed water, I'm starting to really see the benefit of being able to dial in my water use.

Cant tell you anything about the Hunter system to be honest but I dont think you would find many (any) Lynx users who wouldnt encourage you to get it.

    Thomas:

To gain access to the internet I would for the time being use a "hotspot" so you can do the programming ,etc. in your office and NOT in the golf shop.

You are on track to look at all your options ant the golf show. Start with Dennis Waggoner at Hunter to see if there are options ,i.e.. adding radio interfaces .. do you have a good " as built".. This will be very important to add to your new system.
I would also look quite closely at Rain bird instead of the Lynx....

Just curious as to why you would steer him completely away from Lynx? It is by far the easiest and most robust central system I have seen, with a tremendous support network.

That said I wouldn't say don't look at RainBird and Hunter. Look at them all, but IMO Lynx blows everyone out of the water, I'm a SitePro user and can't upgrade to Lynx without a full controller swap (which is not likely and quite frankly too pricey, but I can dream).

I know quite a few guys that say they prefer Rainbird heads and the Toro Lynx central.

I would say the one feature with Lynx that makes sense is the ability to add additional rotors to the T map on your own.

I had a Site Pro and faced the similar additional costs to upgrade.. It was not worth it to the club so I stayed with the system they had.

I do not know about the Lynx system, but I am also currently running the old Hunter Genesis controllers. If anybody out there has any spares or upgrading system and getting rid of yours, please contact me at paul.svcc@woh.rr.com as we are in need of about 2 of the controllers because for some reason that big metal box is hard to see and people like to run into them. Thanks.
