Been having a clogged suction screen problem after 3rd season of operation on our Toro 1250 Spray rig. Seems no matter what we are tank mixing it is getting clogged in the suction screen. Sprayer is still spraying, but as you all have probably encountered when the screen is clogged, the app rate pressure fluctuates. Flowmeter has been removed and cleaned, and tank has been through several rinses with tank cleaner. Does anyone have any suggestions as to why this might be happening so frequently? Same tank mixes we have applied in the past with no problems, therefore not a chem compatibility problem. Any help is appreciated.

I had the same issue. I removed mine and use screens down at each nozzle. Haven't had a problem since. I remove them after every app. and clean them. Works for me.

We put a 24 mesh filter in ours several seasons ago as well as adding a 50 mesh filter to each boom hose.

We also just recently added the teejet venturi agitation nozzle to the bypass line and adjusted the bypass valves underneath each valve to send more water to the bypass line. This has resulted in the best agitation we have ever had.

I honestly can't understand why Toro doesn't install these as standard, but if you will buy one of these and install it, you will never have that problem again and you don't have to remove any strainers anywhere.

Ditto. Comes standard on a Deere. We have had one clogged nozzle in two years running that sprayer with this filter.

I went a step further and installed one on each output line. this really cuts down on any issues at all.

I have a question regarding the filter... being a non spray guy myself. If you filter out some stuff like that filter looks like it does, wouldn't that change your targeted chemistry rate?

But I suppose I could answer my own question in that if it's not melting in and becoming part of the mix its not there anyway.

As long as it is before your flow meter, there should be no problem. It is a very small trickle that feeds back into the tank carrying debris

    Hey Steve or Andy,
Would one of you guys mind posting a pic of where/how you mounted the strainer?

I have a 1250 and have had very few issues with clogging. I do have nozzles clog up on occasion with what looks to be old diaphram pump pieces. Worst issue I had was mixing up 21-0-0 w/0-0-50 and some powderd iron.

Also I have cleaned out my screen after spraying Signature and Daconil Ultrex just as a precaution. But I haven't seemed to have the issues you all have had. Could it be mostly what I'm spraying?

A couple of my words look misspelled, is the spell checer working yet? I guess not.
