   Hello all!
   
   I am looking for any suggestions, ideas, photos of ways topdressing sand is stored at your facility. We would very much like to perform a sand inject graden for our greens because we are very thatchy in our upper third profile. The issue is the lack of storage and keeping the sand dry. Our current topdressing is in a designated spot at the maintenance facility which gets covered but does not stay completely dry which would be required for the graden. We have discussed building a hoop house over the sand, but if anyone has some great ideas I'd love to hear them, thanks!

   I have covered soil bins, but maybe a sand silo would be the ticket?

   A cargo container works great. I takes about an hour to move a truck load of sand with tractor loader into the container. The container doesn't depreciate and can be sold at anytime for what you paid for it.
   
   A 40' high cube container can hold between 50-75 tons of sand depending on how high you push it up.
   
   Some the best covering material is good used rubber roofing membrane if you are not putting your sand in an enclosure.

   Still need a roof, but I have ordered dry sand in 1 ton super sacks and temporarily moved equipment out of its normal parking. You can then locate the super sacks around the course and load a garden or dryject with 5 gallon buckets. The sacks are lined with plastic and wrapped, so if the weather looks good, you could leave them out, but I was never willing to take a chance after all that fuss...

   This is a great idea....you said a 40' high container though. Not sure I've seen one of those. But I'm liking the idea....can you clarify?

   40' long - High Cube container. High Cube containers are shipping containers that's are little taller and a little wider than a standard container. We used them during construction for storage while our shop was being built.

   At our club we utilize 50 gal plastic drums with lids and a band to secure lid. A dry sand delivery will accommodate approx. 60 barrels. Weighing roughly 800 lbs. We purchased a barrel grabber for our ASV skid steer to lift barrels. It takes about 30 minutes to unload the truck.
   A silo was not and option for our facility. It has worked well for us.

   Patrick in correct-a high cube container is a little taller. I think containers are all the same width. They are the maximum width allowed for hauling down the road with a semi truck or carried on a train.
   
   They also sell open top containers. That you can load over the top. You would have to tarp the top.
