Hi guys, Im at a 36 hole private club in asia. We host the National Open. I am trying to get some salary information without having to pay the $125 on here to see the Compensation and benefits report which probably wouldn't be relevant to me anyway due to my overseas placement. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

That $125 may be worth it. You can relate salary via cost of living fairly easily. The report is very detailed and worth it IMHO.

I see tons of job postings for anywhere between 30 and 60 thousand dollars per year. Rarely are there any jobs posted on here or on turfnet for more than that so how is it possible that the average for Superintendent base salary is 85 thousand per year. Something just doesn't seem to add up here. Can anyone explain this to me?

Most openings never get here. The jungle drums take care of feeding a million resumes to any club that has an opening.

I don't think we can use the phase jungle drums any longer.
I'm sure somebody, somewhere will find that offensive.
We need to redirect these connotations towards NASCAR fans and then nobody will give them a second thought.

Occasionally I will see one posted for higher, but 1. I think those jobs rarely come open only. 2. Most jobs like that if they even are advertised are usually filled using head hunting services, (hence the jungle drum reference?). I know occasionally jobs in our small area don't always get posted.

I think what keeps the salaries up in the survey are those guys that make those kind of numbers are just better at filling out the survey then those that are making at the bottom of the survey.

Also consider that these are the starting wages for these positions. Theoretically after a person accepts these positions at these pay rates, there is some upward potential and persons remaining in these positions for longer would be granted pay increases over time. After a number of years in a position a person could be making considerably more than they were when they started, which would pull the average up

The cadre of sales reps pretty much takes care of spreading the word about openings around here and often times jobs are open and filled before you ever hear about it.
