After a record cold winter in SE. Pa. I have a green where you can make out the drain lines and even the laterals if you look had enough. After 15 years I have never seen this on these usga greens. Has anyone have this happen to them and if so what where your experiences during the growing season and what did you have to do to get them back into shape.

Yes I have seen this many times. Topdressing heavily and listening to the mechanic complain about dull blade was always the answer in the past. Grow grass. Your golfers will read it.

Could it be that there is less frost above the drain lines than the rest of the green? Just a thought as I live in a pretty frigid climate and have seen frost heaving on a green from xcountry skiers or snowmobilers. The heaving eventually just settles back to normal.

Have this happen on a few greens every year. We just stick a pitchfork in from the side and pull the low areas back up, then run a roller over it. Keep heavy traffic off them for a few days and couldn't ever tell they were there.

Oh, and another thing. Put the cup in the bottom of the dip. Golfers love your greens when they sink putts!

wait it out, than act if necessary. My money is on the heaves coming out once everything completely unfreezes.

They will unsink once the frost is gone. It's a weird phenomenon that happens in a really cold winter.

Does anyone else have concerns about the extreme cold nights with the plants at their lowest level of cold hardiness?
