   When I got to this facility a few years ago, we didn't have any written standards or job procedures. It took me a while, but I worked on them over the course of a winter. We go through a lot of seasonal help(mainly high school kids) each summer so I wanted a detailed book of common tasks that can be a reference during the training period. Plus we mention it during meetings if we feel like standards are slipping. If you want to take a look to get an idea for your own book, I'd be happy to share it with you.

   I did my own. Just do one at a time. There are less than a dozen common assignments here. It only takes like a half an hour to do one. It's better to do them yourself, because then they are tailored to your operation. Just do one or 2 per week and you will be all done in a couple of months.

   Here is a simple form I use. It can be altered for each job and for any facility. I use this sheet when training an employee so that they are aware of each step. I make them sign it when they are trained and give them a copy.
