    Hello everyone

The current trend of the golf shoe spikes is tearing up greens surfaces. The new spikes are way too aggressive and after a dozen groups have played through, the area around the hole is beat up.

I think you could scale Mt Everest with the new adizero. http://taylormadegolf.com/adidasgolf/fo ... 015-4.html

Has anyone else notices this with the newer spikes?

I still prefer the new spikes to the old steel ones. Especially when the older people could not pick up their feet and shuffled with them on.

I wonder and have a theory, what was the average height of cut when steel spikes were banned and what is it now? Could that be leading to some of the spike marks of today?

I've been mowing at 5/32" for years and only really notice the spike marks when we are a little on the wet side.

I remember the last course I worked at that allowed steel spikes in the late 90's, we mowed at 5/32" and wouldn't notice the steel spikes much until we let the greens really dry down. Isn't the few that still wear steel spikes on the PGA Tour most noticible when they have let the greens dry down?

I have seen the same thing here especially with the Adidas zero which is basically a soccer cleat with soft spikes. It would be nice if the PGA or the USGA would regulate these new shoes, or at least maybe a certification by an independent agency. You really see the stress in the morning the next day or by the end of the day. Then to top it off seniors and kids drag their feet and heavy guys imprint their heels. Don't you love the insanity?

I think I've seen this thread somewhere before??

What's with golf where everything is made to overcome the inability to play the game? If someone needs that much grip they have a horrid swing. Didn't Sam Snead use to practice in his bare feet because it promoted balance?

Let's just go to robotic golfers and then people can get s faced on the veranda and still say they played.

I miss the old days of metal spikes
