    Hello,

Management is considering killing off half a green that was planted with a paspalum patch years ago as a test. The green is poa penncross with about 2000 sq ft of paspalum strewn around. I pounded the paspalum last year with 4 to 5 x dosage of Primo Maxx and it grows about same speed as poa bent. We have 4 newer greens that are L93 and we would probably plant L93 and water lightly repeatedly!!!! during the day.

We are looking at Gibraltar on southern Med. I mentioned that a project with similar climate where I worked had planted during mid summer several greens and next phase in early autumn and the second phase was playable months before the first phase. Our high season begins +/- Sept 15.

July has normal temperatures of mid 90F´s???? dry as can be. I welcome all comments. Thanks

That's tough! I believe if I were going to attempt seeding with temps in that range, I would consider seed priming. That way you'll get it up quick w/o the risk of algae buildup before the seed germination. I would also make sure I'm protected before during and after for Pythium.

Instead of full out seeding could you aerify and pull cores to that spot, level and dimple with a sand-pro with a little seed? We have had to do that multiple times for our nursery green and works extremely well. Just a thought. HAVE FUN!

Thanks guys for the ideas. Management has backed off on any extensive green reform. I myself think that coring as suggested and overseeding will do the trick for winter dormancy of the paspalum. A former greenkeeper thought that Salaam was the way of the future.

Pounding it with Primo Maxx for summer and above for winter should do the trick. We have many other eggs to fry at the moment.

While it would be better to wait for an answer from someone smarter than me, as I understand it, you soak the seed in water, allow it to start drying out and soak it again, I don't know how many times, but once it is spread instead of taking the 5-6 days to germinate, it germinates quicker.

I remember a buddy from school who worked in the mountains of NC, they would place their bent grass seed in a running stream to prime it.
