I saw a demo of a roller bunker rake at the show and I would like to buy one but I lost the contact info. Anybody know who sells these things?

Was this demoed at the GIS? I see it must be pretty new with a May 1 ship date. This thing looks pretty nifty. But wow, I don't think I'll be purchasing them for every bunker out there. Looks like a phenomenal spot raking tool when labor is a shortage and a clean look is still desirable.

I did see it at the show. Certainly enough different than anything else out there. Caught my attention, but a pretty, young blonde working the rake will do that. Kind of like a wire paint roller before you put on the fabric. I stood there for a good twenty minutes, watching. I finally got the owner's attention, letting him know my possible interest in selling them in my area, curious about the cost, but was pretty much brushed off. Anytime somebody new would approach the booth he would leave me and grab a rake himself.

The way they were demo-ing it I got the impression it is was meant for your maintenance crew to use as they rake and/or touch up bunkers while making their rounds. The handle was looooooooong. Like about 72". When I asked I was told "nope, these are meant to be left at the bunker for the golfers to use."

    "Hmmmm. How much are they?"

"They'll sell for about 175 Bucks."

Thinking to myself, and under my breath......... "good luck."

If you have a local guy that reps them ask for a demo first. I stood there and watched dozens of demos in their sandpit. Each and every time there was a noticeable ridge left on the edges as the raked.

    No longer impressed.

Good to hear. Even on the website, I felt I could notice a little ridge like you mentioned from their video. I suppose there are factors like wetness, pressure, sand texture and others that could influence this. But I agree, at $175, I'm not that curious. I can buy a bunch of spring tine debris rakes and use them with the tines up to get a similar appearance. If they were $50-75, hell even 99.99 (I don't feel passing the 100 dollar threshold is worth it), might be worth it to try one out. But until then, sandpros and traditional rake's it is.

I ordered one at the show and the delivery date was March 15th. Then March 25th and them April 1nst. I canceled the ordered, but am looking forward to seeing other's thoughts. There is no way that this is to be used for golfers. Members would have an assessment just to buy enough. ($175 each)

I didn't watch that long since my wife was there and she was pretty sure she knew what I was watching. I was thinking about giving them to the bunker takers. Right now, we're using wire spring time rakes and I'm not real happy with the finish.

They want 200 bucks for the big one with the Fiberglas handle. I guess I'll live without it. Thanks, guys.

It just looks like a stretched out one of these for picking up nuts. They must think it is for golf they can increase the price by 300-400%.

Isn't that 300-400% markup industry standard? It sure seems like it on most things. From the equipment we buy to the tools vendors sell, its all a bit overly inflated in my mind. But, that's what we get in a niche market. That's why superintendents have become so creative over the years. You gotta think that if this apparatus is that special and works that well, someone will copy it within a very short time frame and bring the cost to a convenient medium.
