What are you paying for your reclaimed water?

$1.40/1000 gallons. If we can't take it though, it is dumped on the backside of the property for free. Go figure.

Andy, sounds like you need to put a pond and pump station down on the backside of your property.

    Mel,

This has been an ongoing saga for about three years. Originally, they were going to charge me $3.40/1000 gallons. They figured that is what they need to charge to recover their expenses of switching to reuse. After a quick survey on here and phone calls to other Superintendents, I negotiated the price down the $1.40. The engineers had no clue what others pay. Several courses in this area get it for free. Some pay $.10. Others pay $.40. Since we also own the sewer plant, it's kind of funny money anyways, but affects my budget drastically!

Quit whining people. Out here my course pays $1109.55 per acre foot. There was supposed to be another 12.5% increase July 1st, but fortunately that has been put on hold. We'd drill a well but we'd probably find China before we found any water.

    Gus,

Based on that rate, I would spend close to $300,000 for water for ONE of my golf courses. That's outrageous!!!

At least you guys have Ron Burgundy to look forward too at the end of the day though.

Ouch. Acre ft. = 325,851 gallons. $3.40/1000 gal. I would have spent $166,409.60 on water so far this year paying that price. That will make you conserve water.

We used to get reclaimed to supplement our surface water withdrawal until they shut it off in 2000. County took over sewage plant from the developer and then promptly diverted all the reclaimed away. The Comminity Master Association sued and won and part of the settlement terms are that the county has to provide free reclaimed water, minimum 900,00/gal. per day for 20 years for free with decreased discounts in years 21-25. They are now in the process to resupply me with it. 16 years left on the settlement. I am not forced to take any more than I need to keep my withdrawal lake within a predetermined water level range. It will allow me to stop using my well to recharge that lake. Hopefully by time I hit my dry season next spring we will be ready to go. I pumped 17.6 million gallons in May and June this year.
