We are looking at buying a new range picker to be used on the front of a tractor. I was wondering if anyone has any models that they would recommend. I need something that is durable because of rough terrain and college student workforce.

    Scott-

We use the SL90 senior picker from Wittek golf. We have a big range that gets a lot of traffic and this picker holds up very well. We run two of these pickers on the front of tractors and the only problem that we have is our students turning the tractors so sharp sometimes that they tear-up the turf a little. This unit comes in either two, three, or five sections so you can get the size that best fits you facility. Hope this helps.

We are happy with our Easy Picker. It is very light weight, but it has also proven to be very durable.

If you do the Easypicker, a trick we learned from a local driving range is get a couple extra wheels, like the one on the very front, and add them in front of a picker unit on either side where it would just be a riser for extra support especially on rougher terrain. A 7 gang add a couple on each side.

We use a 9 gang Easy Picker. I agree use extra wheels on the unit we have 3. Also I have mapped out how the range is to be picked each time. This helps avoid tight turns. We also do not rely on the basket brackets to hold the baskets in place. They break all the time when full and on rough ground. We welded 4" x 1/8" steel straps on to the gang unit to hold the baskets from underneath. Also Easy Picker has a high riser option to get the support frame higher above the top of basket to allow higher baskets and to avoid knuckle busting. Go with split baskets not the long ones, you will pop a nut trying to lift them! I am actually trying to figure out how to add 2 gangs on each side to get us up to 13!
