We are in the process of replacing a 1990 flowtronics pumpstation. Has anyone had any luck selling an old station or am I basically looking at scrap value? The only good home for it that I can see would be a course that would have a very similar setup and looking for spare parts or something to keep them running in a pinch. Our installer advised that even if we could find a buyer, we would probably bring more for it at the scrap yard. Thoughts and/or experience?

    Thanks,

I replaced 3 pumpstations last summer - they ended up at the scrap yard

That is what I was thinking I would here. Thanks for the response!

    Matt,
I sold an older Carroll Childers pump station last year for $10k listing it on Turfnet. I was told that this was a 1 and a million shot by my Irrigation rep, but you never know unless you try! Possibly the motors could also be worth more than you think.

Wow. Impressive! Well, considering the time crunch we were facing with the weather, we completed the demo of the station and the building in-house. Everything went to the scrap yard. Combine that with the money we saved by deleting that portion of work from the bid, I'm happy with how it turned out. Thanks for the input!

I think taking the old station might have been in the cost of the one station I replaced. If the pumps and motors are working and are the same spec at the replacements I might keep 1 or 2 as a back-up. I mean the truck is already there to pick up the damaged one, why not put in a spare?

Also, if I had to do it again I would look into a jockey with 10hp instead of the 3hp I bought. We were without power for quite a while after a hurricane and a generator for a 10hp that will run a couple heads manually was doable. A generator for a 75hp was not.
