Quick question for those of you spraying Primo on your fairways. What rate of Primo in how many gallons of water per acre on what grass? Thanks.

I don't know what kind of grass you have, but I spray anywhere from 12 to 16 oz / acre on my 419 Bermuda fairways. 16 makes them look funny, but I only do that when I'm getting ready to overseesd.

    Regards,

    Steve

We use 16 oz. of product combined with 30 gallons of H2o per acre. 419 Bermudagrass.
We try not to mow for 5 days following application. We like to let the plant really take up the product. Otherwise, we feel like we are cutting the product out of the plant and it becomes less effective with every mowing. We apply 3 times annually. Frees up labor and saves on parts and repair from primary rough gang units.

When the product first came out about a decade ago. We used it on roughs only. We could could go weeks without mowing. But the sooner you mow,....the sooner you will need to reapply.

Of course now we use use it on Greens (328, Tifdwarf, Tifeagle), Tees, Fairways and Roughs when needed.

3-4 apps per season 3 weeks apart -- first 8-9oz/A then bump 1 oz/A each additional app. Vamont Bermudagrass with relatively short growing season. Have used on Bent but only with Trimmit or Cutless. Primo would be just few oz/A with those apps. Almost always in 40 GPA on fairways.

We apply at 10-14 oz./A. on 419 bermudagrass in May-August. We also add 10 lbs./A of ferrous sulphate for color and aid in uptake. HOC is .450 mowed 3 times weekly.

Seems a waste if you are still mowing 3x a week. Why spray Primo?

Quite simply member demands. Tuesdays are LGA day, Thursday and Friday are our Men's days. We have in the past hose dragged fairways on some of those days but the next time we do cut there is a need for a fairway blower. Our low staff numbers do not always allow this.

Conditions...we do the same thing (mow 3x week). If I didn't spray primo on the bermuda, I'd either have to mow every day in July and August, settle for poor quality cut because bailing hay, and not have the benefit of tighter fairways from the primo....now on the bent fairways, using growth regulators we can reduce our mowings to twice a week and still have good quality conditions.
