I have always used growing degree days to calculate my next application of Primo on my Poa/ Bent greens and have had great success. Due to scheduling I'm looking at going to every 2 weeks for the Primo application and increasing the amount of Primo per application. What would be the rate you could use to produce the same results during the height of the growing season? My rate per application during the our highest growth rate period is .190oz per 1000 sq feet

Thank you in advance for your responses,

    Best,

    Steve

My understanding is that the 200 GD method is an absolute regardless of the amount applied. More will get you greater suppression during the period, but it won't last any longer...I think

Thank you Larry, This has always been my thought as well. I was told recently that you could take the rate to .22 oz/1000 every 2 weeks and create the same effect as if you were on the growing degree day program which during the peak of our season equates to sending the sprayer out every 9 days at .19 oz per 1000.

I agree with Larry, from what I've been told it doesn't matter the rate, at 200 GDD is when it runs out. According to the sheet there is still about 10% suppression compared to non treated turf, when it hits 200 GDD, you might play with the numbers it might work at 14 days for you? I do know for us most of the summer we can only go 7 days. Late spring/early fall, it's about 10 days, early spring and late fall it's 14, maybe a couple of more.

    Mel,
Our intervals are a little longer up here at 8.000 feet in elevation, as it just isn't very warm much of the year. Thank you for your input, I agree with both you and Larry on your assessment that Growing Degree Days are the only way to monitor when it is time to reapply Primo. Have a successful 2017 season!

As we have no time to spray G, T, Ap, and fw more than every two weeks that is what we do. It would be nice to have more flexability.

Steven look into Bill Krueser's work at Nebraska. He has a mobile app called Greenkeeper I think. It's available if you search Nebraska Turf Education, etc. You can enter weather data and it predicts PGR breakdown. Great stuff. Kenneth Ingram, UMD

Interesting concept. But it's not working; unable to input sprayer info, no product information... When will you have it functional?

    Steven,

We struggled to try to keep up with the GDD and the growth surges as the primo ran out every 5 to 9 days. We have added Trimmit at 1 to 1.5 oz per acre each application to cover the gap and be able go the 2 weeks without worry about the up and down growth rates.

I had never used Trimmit before and was a little nervous about it but for us on greens tees and fairways in our tank mix it worked great.

Yes. I've been registered and using it since 2016. Could be the problem is browser related? I'm on Edge (no pun intended) with no issues. Well, no browser issues! I'll look around to see if there have been any emails re: browser preferences.

looking at the most recent email update, MS Internet Explorer is the only browser not compatible for GreenkeeperApp. Edge, Firefox, Chrome and Safari are all on the good list.

    David,

Be careful about letting it known on this forum that you tank mix 2 growth regulators as you may get "The Letter" from a certain manufacturer claiming they have the intellectual property of doing so.

    Thanks David,

So Primo with Trimmit, you can get to a two week interval of spraying during the peak of growing season. That would be greatly helpful. That will eliminate a few applications during the season and also providing for a scheduled day every two weeks for application. Do you add any quicksilver to this mix as well for moss control?

    Thank you for your input.

    Chris,
Thank you for your response on this. Clearly you have been utilizing this chemistry for a substantial length of time with great confidence. I am looking forward to utilizing this approach in 2017 for improved results.

    Steve,

I have added the quicksilver for blanket applications but our moss is limited so I usually spot treat for it. I have mixed it with Provaunt insecticide, most fungicides, Urea and Iron.

    David,

Thanks for the additional information on Quicksilver, nutrients, and plant protectants that can be added to this mix/blend.

Very helpful. I am looking forward to trying this out in 2017.

Those using the Primo/Trimmit mix, do you see any reduction on the poa at the light rates of Trimmit? Or is it just to get you 14 days of regulation?

Anyone using that combo in the transition zone all summer?

And what do I do with my neat GDD chart if I go this route?

    Thanks,

    Mel
