Pre-mix Tank (Coned vs Flat Bottom)?

    Good afternoon,

At a previous course, I built a mix tank using a Coned Bottom. A trash pump drew the solution out the bottom, re-directed it and deposited it back at the top. It was a simple design. I never had issues with any material settling out during the agitation process. At my current course, I want to build (2) pre-mix tanks for dissolving fertilizers prior to adding to sprayers. 2 tanks would allow separate mixes for greens and fairways. The coned bottom tanks cost more than the flat bottom ones (no stand). For those of you that have flat bottom pre-mix tanks, do you experience any settling of soluble fertilizers (FeSO4, MnSO4, AMS or Urea)?

    Thanks in advance

    Dustin,

Two seasons in we have not had any problem when mixing FeSO4 or Urea with a flat bottomed tank under agitation.

We use a electric pool pump for agitation.
