Root,
so many variables involved, type and slopes on greens, ability of the person doing readings, it becomes a competition that can lead to personal stress and hair loss (like me). I threw my stimpmeter in a lake long ago, as its intent was for consistency not competition between local courses and TV events. It is a reality that green speed is fluid with weather, temps, moisture, growth, ect. Challenging fair conditions are not based on some number. Beside if you are good with the meter it can be manipulated to come out whatever you desire.....Most players over 10 hcp can not handle truly fast greens anyway...JMO
