We have primarily Ky blue/perennial rye fairways and we cut at .75 inch (due to water restrictions). We got new Jacobsen fairway mowers a week after I started working at a new course last fall and they seem to leave a shaggy, longish cut. Some blades are cut cleanly, but the majority are either torn, bent, or shredded. The bedknives are properly faced and the reels are sharp - they are cutting paper just fine. We've tried slowing the mowers down to as low as 4 mph and have tried double cutting (not really an option due to heavy early play, but had to try it!). We're currently checking with Jake to see if there is an option to speed up the reels thinking maybe they are not running as fast as they should. Any ideas?

Don't know if you're in the same boat, but in NY Rye is going to seed very hard this year and we are just past peak.
