I just checked the PACE Turf Growing degree day models for GDD32 and GDD50 for Danville and Rosemead. It's time for seedheads.
According to the literature, Poa seedheads show up between 200 to 500 GDD32 and between 30 and 50 GDD50.
For the past 30 days, Danville, VA, GDD32 = 302 and GDD50 = 18. Rosemead, CA, GDD32 = 793 and GDD50 = 253.
We also have a client in coastal southern California who applied Primo+Proxy three weeks ago, and the application seems like it went out too late. He took a short vacation after the application and returned to a nice flush of seedheads. Poa is thriving this spring.
