Curious if anyone has experience painting winter killed poa fairways. I have experimented with Transition turf colorant @32-64oz/A in the past, but with results nothing like I see on some of the Southern courses painting their dormant Bermuda.

Thanks for any help or other ideas you might have.

I had some issues with my greens a few years back. I was using a pigment for color. When I went to re establish these areas I experienced some loss in seed germination from the pigment getting directly on the soils surface. The pigment stayed there for some time and had to break it up with needle tine aeration.
My advice would be to use caution, maybe even experiment with some areas.
    Good luck.

    Scott,

Check out Endurant from Geoponics. Based out of Florida and provides best green color I've seen with no mixing and easy on pumps. My overseed got beat down out here and used on all my fairways and extremely pleased with result.

Transition is a short term colorant. You'll need something that will last you a long time until you can get those areas reestablished. The Geoponics Products should work good in this instance.

Just remember, no matter what you use, nothing will turn dirt green and make it playable.

Hey Scott, being you are in Minnesota and likely still under snow cover, have you seen anything yet that makes you think you may need to paint?

Have pulled some plugs and bent grass looks good but my poa fairways on the old course look like toast. Three thaws and freezes and no cover until early February and some pretty cold temps. Some ice but not a lot, mostly direct low temp. kill of poa would be my guess.
