    Not on bent, but used it to take out the common Bermuda encroaching into my TifDwarf nursery green. Smoked it!

    MU did a study on fairway height bent, it worked great, they are now an SEC school so I guess that is south?

    I heard some have tried it on zoysia, the zoysia yellowed but came back, has anyone else tried that? Have some common bermuda and also goose that I would like to get out of zoysia collars.

    Andy,

    How many apps and what rates did you use? I have common Bermuda taking over once bentgrass fairways in southern New Jersey. I'm looking at starting light apps now and aggressively seeding in bent following second or third app. Any information would help.

    I did two apps. I think I put 1/4oz in a 1 gallon pump up. In my case, I didn't really care if it died or not, or whether it took out anything around it. So, the rate may or may not be too high for your use.

    Wish Pylex was available in California. It won't be available until Spring/Summer of 2015, if we get lucky and it gets approved by the government. Talked to my local BASF rep about it and it will take 3 applications every other week to take out common bermudagrass. Can not wait to get my hands on this product.

    Does wonders in Tall Fescue at 1.5oz/A + 32 oz Triclopyr two apps 2-3 weeks apart and then a third app with just Pylex at 1 oz/A. Have seen greater than 80% control of Bermuda with that program. Last year I was able to go .4oz/A all summer long (every 3 weeks) on Bent fairways and ding up the Bermuda quite a bit with 4-6 apps, but this year have seen damage to Bent at rates as low as .1oz/A. It looks like this is a tool with good suppression in Bentgrass, but I wouldn't jump on the bandwagon just yet about removal. Much more work needs to be done with regards to rates and timing and varietal tolerances. To my knowledge, BASF has no intention of putting Bentgrass on the label.

    I know a guy in Virginia that is spraying it at .125 oz per acre on bent greens. 4 days of yellowing on bent but Bermuda is ghost white for weeks. He has made two applications in August 2014

    We mow our fairways at half inch. Recently used Pylex at .5 ounces per acre. Our fairways are magority Rye/Poa. Few areas have Bentgrass as we know and noticed after spraying Pylex. I just want to caution everyone on using Pylex on Bentgrass with Growth Regulator (even Rye/poa) in NJ. Go with very low rates ;)

    Goosegrass, crabgrass is killed almost. Dallisgrass fought it off for now and Bentgrass may be dead. Lets get some reearch and discussion on rates/timing/mix partnerts, etc....

    Looking forward to everyones experience with Pylex in the Northeast

    In my experience, healthy Bent (l-93 fairway height) can tolerate that rate as long as it isn't dry. I'm not saying I would recommend that, and certainly very risky this time of year. I've seen Pylex take out mature goose at .1 oz/Acre and Dallisgrass after multiple rates at slightly higher rates. Fantastic tool for us, players are even getting used to the bleached look. Using mostly to suppress/remove Bermuda from Tall fescue and Bent.

    We sprayed at the 1.25 oz/acre rate. It yellowed the Bluegrass and Bentgrass that has encroached our collars.
    It smoked the Goose grass and most other weeds listed on the label. I suspect one could go with lower rate.
    Our members want this for their lawns now!
    I have had it with the Bluegrass, with the poa, weeds, fungus etc. We are converting over to Yukon Bermuda by seed next May.

    I sprayed Pylex on six of my fairways to eradicate the goosegrass....I have been experimenting with rates and found that a half-ounce of Pylex for two acres----.250oz/A really kicked the Goose's ass and didn't even effect the rye/blue grass, just turned that Goose white as a sheet. Now, remember not too spray during hot spells--I sprayed two weeks ago here in NJ when the temps were in the low 80's.....worked great. I believe the label rate is way to high. For example, last year I sprayed at 1oz/A, and when my tank was empty, I filled the tank with 50 gallons of water and added Daconil Action and Secure to spray #9 fairway---three days later the goose and crab starting bleaching white, and I didn't add any Pylex to the tank, it was just the residual left in the hoses and a miniscule amount still left in the tank from previous app. Use a sticker also :-)

    When Pylex was in the testing stages we tried it for bent eradication from other cool season grasses as an alternative to Tenacity? At rough height it did so so zinging the volunteer bent in our trial but others said it worked well while others said it didn't touch the bent.

    0.250 ounces per acre? What do you have to put in in the tank with? A baby syringe?
    Any thoughts on using it on tees mowed at 0.625? Most Blue/Rye Poa... a little bent in spots?
    I've tried Drive, Acclaim, Dismiss mixed in. Difficuly with Crab this year on tees. always say I'm gonna stay on top of it with post emergent sprays, but not so much this year. Although, Dismiss in a fairway spray last friday had knocked some of it out.
    Goal this fall is to try to really push tees, aerify and overseed at least three times and fert the hell out of them and then hit them with a good preemergent next spring

    My fairways rebounded nicely even during this hot and humid stretch of weather. Bentgrass came back but had 10% death and all other fairways are ok except for some scaring on usual hot spots. My personal experience is use .25 ounces per acre during low stress periods. I used .5 ounces per acre with a high rate of Trinexpax Ethly during high stress and it looked very ugly for 2 weeks but Goosegrass is toasted (dead).... If you can tolerate the off color and mask it then go with .5 ounces per acre but no more

    We usually mow at .550 but we moved up to .600 for the summer stress. 5 gang Jac LF3400 with grooved rollers

    Just curious, if you are trying to remove Bent, why not go with Tenacity? Probably could do it with high rates of Pylex, but its on the label for Tenacity.

    I was worried about total death of the Bent. Nothing was ever done in the years before I got here and some of the tees are maybe up to 75% Bent. Just trying to do a controlled cut back over a few years. I didn't know if Tenacity would be a slow enough burn out.

    I sprayed 1.5oz per acre with triclopyr. Serious yellowing which bounced back fine. Goose grass....dead. bentgrass....dead! Probably was the triclopyr. Next year I will spray .25-.5 oz per acre no triclopyr. Im nto giving up on it yet. I hear too many great things about this stuff.

    We have a sample of it (have never used it) and yes it comes in a syringe.

    I'm a big fan of low use rates, that may be too low IMO.

    Depends on what your target is, but very effective on most things at .25oz/A and less. One application. Dallisgrass and Bermuda require multiple applications and do better at control at higher rates if you can tolerate it.

    Sprayed at the 0.5 oz/ acre rate on a hanful of tees to try it out. A little over week later, have some white crab and goosegrass out there. Added some dissmiss to the tank after spraying the tees and sprayed some bunker banks that had some kylinga and sedge with good results.

    The turf industry is really getting hammered on price when it comes to Topramezone. The AG industry is paying half of what we are for the same chemical. Its been around for a while, just recently introduced to us for use.

    Has anyone used Pylex below the .1 oz/A rate? Its been so effective on fairly mature goosegrass for us at that rate, I was wondering if .075 or .05 oz/A on younger plants might not be the ticket? I hate using pres on our Bent fairways, but goose and crab pressure remains high in all our check plots and we had pretty good breakthrough in a couple fairways that got thin on us. The Pylex cleaned things up, but I was hesitant to pull the trigger until we saw light at the end of the tunnel. At less than .1oz/A, I think I would be less hesitant in the future and less concerned about bleaching any of our Bermuda at inopportune times. Anyone testing the lower limits of efficacy on this product?
