Has any body heard more on Dr Nikolai studies on rolling and the turf producing phytolexins.{the plants natural fungicide}, For budget reasons I built my own rolling heads for my greens mower ,150pd heads with 4 small rollers on each head, It does increase green speed up to 6 to 8 . Iam currently rolling 3 to four times a week after cutting.
Is it the weight of the roller or how many times rolled produces this natural fungicide for the turf.Smaller rollers does create more weight per sq in.
So far I love the results ! Thanks Jim Moore

I'm not familiar with this study, so can't comment on it. But, I am aware of several studies, like the one attached, that states that dew removal decreases the chances of dollar spot and others by reducing the amount of time the plant stays under heavy moisture.

Search the TGIF for "dew removal" and several pieces of literature pop up.

I actually saw research on dollar spot and rolling that took the dew removal factor out of the equation by rolling in the late afternoon and the control for dollar spot was just as good as rolling in the morning. Not that dew removal isn't beneficial but I was surprised by this research.

Edit: Here is the research I was referring to:
