We built our own out front brushes for our Tri Plex greens mowers. They worked great. I believe I used pics posted on here by Andy Jorgensen. We just got new Tri Flex greens mowers. Anyone have any experience with an out front brush on the Tri Flex? Thanks

We just built two for John Deere 2500E's. I used two of the regular overhead brushes for the 220E walker and attached the hardware to each front reel just as it would be on the walking unit, then cut the third brush to fill in the middle and attached all three by a piece of 1/4x2'' flat stock. Works great, works as one complete brush, run with it up or down and does an awesome job. I would think you could do the same using brushes from the flex mowers. It took a total of 6 brushes and hardware for 4 cutting heads.

    Regards.

If you do not want to go to all of the trouble of manufacturing your own unit you might want to check out the outfront brush used on triplex mowers at www.true-surface.com. Made of aluminum they are light weight and with three individual floating brushes will follow the contour of your greens.

I have been thinking about an aggressive brushing program. I saw those pictures of your brush and sat down with the mechanic. We have been using them for a week now. Thanks a lot. You saved us a pile of money. I'm hoping to eliminate all the grain in the greens and keep it gone. Thanks again

    Hey Andy-

    Could you re-post that picture?

    Thanks, as always,

A little ingenuity, some angle iron and push brooms from Lowe's....cost is around $60/each. We use zip ties to secure them to the lift frames and when not using them just cut the zip ties and they come right off. Saw one guy that sent me some photos of the one he built that added old bedknives on the front for extra weight.

I had a similar idea as well for my Jake GKIV s. How does the c/u s handle the weight (is it too much ?). A little concerned about hilly terrain bouncing the brush around causing some harm to the c/u s and possibly the hydraulic system.

Jacobsen used to make a brush for the GKIV's that mounted to the front of the mower. It was product # 68623. They discontinued it, but last time I checked you could still get the parts. There wasn't really much involved with this brush. If you could get the parts, you could put them together and have a great brush fairly cheap.
