Jeremy Hreben said: I am in the Northeast. With the unseasonablly warm weather we are having, who is appliying pre-emergent early? I think the phenology is just after forsythia blooms and just before lilac bushes bloom. That would be now. But this seems VERY early. I am will be using dimension so some post control with take place.
In the same respect, who is applying ABW and summer patch early?
It is an early spring for sure....I'm Tx NW panhandle...very much the transition zone...We've had high temps...peak at 5pm to 86 degree's.The next day a low of 23. Really watching my soil temps and micro bursts of high temps also. I'm checking at the 2" and 4" depth too. I've decided to push my Bentgrass w/a sprayable ammoniacal at 1/10th lb/1000/m called "Get Green", just to get them out of domancy because here the Bent gos dormant. I wanna have some good growth before aerification and to potentially compete if I have a Crab breakthrough earlier. I will use "Anderson's" 9-0-18w/Dithiopyr, full rate if temps allow it, for the exact reason you are. It has post emergent properties too. If I do have some breakthrough, I'll follow up with "Quiclorac 75%" at 7 oz/m. Use flooding nozzles at 40psi, to just cover the leaf surface. then see what happens. I've used Quinclorac before with NO adverse effects on Bentgrass.
