I manage paspalum on the island of Curacao and there are a few weeds here I cannot selectively control. The broadleaf weeds are easily controlled with speedzone but there are 2 species of grasses that are unique to the area can and do out compete the paspalum in areas. So far I have tried all rates and combinations of the following that provide no control...

    Drive
    Certainty
    Dismiss
    Sedge hammer
    Revolver
    Salt

What are the weeds/grasses??? Sencore can be used on Paspalum at light rates along with Prograss. If salt will not control these grasses is it possible it is some type of Paspalum??

I know MSMA is not recommend for paspalum, but you could try it at some light rates alone or with Drive to try to get some results.

Ya Ive got some MSMA being shipped an will try it at light rates to see. I will definitely ding some paspalum but it may be my only option.

We have just started mixing MSMA with Fusion Liquid Fe on Paspalum. I saw this at another golf course with Paspalum and they were having very good success with it. The paspalum gets a very slight yellowish tint but that's about it. Send me a PM if you would like more specific details, rates, results etc. Cheers.

You could try Solitar which is a combo of Drive and Dismiss.

We also mix up 3 ounces of Revolver and 2 ounces of Dismiss in a 25 gallon sprayer and spot spray with that.

I would be careful with msma. We have sea dwarf here and I have a part time guy that is an assisitant at another course that has Salam paspalum. When we first opened years ago I let him talk me into letting him experiment with spot spraying the sea dwarf with the same rates he used on the Salam and it burned the Sea Dwarf to the dirt. I think the rate was 1oz/M.

Yes, MSMA by itself will certainly put a severe hurting on the paspalum. The paspalum sprayed with MSMA / Fe mixture did not show much if any damage at the test plots I saw. I sprayed some test plots of my own at my course with this mixture this week. Hoping for the best.
