I am in the very, very early stages of planning for a complete irrigation system renovation for one of my courses. Its located in Orlando, Fl - is nine-holes with a practice facility totalling 60 Acres (Greens-3A, Tees-5A, Fairways-15A, Rough-37A).
Currently system is hydraulic, Rain Bird Nimbus w/Freedom installed in 1997.
What I'm looking for is a very rough all-in number for a complete renovation from design to install (new everything - pipe, wiring, heads, controllers, control, pumpstation, etc.). Most likely would stick with Rain Bird & look at their IC System.
Like I said, this is the very early stages of planning & I need a number for the bean counters at corporate so they can get use to seeing it for a couple of years before it becomes reality.

Hopefully some of you that have gone thru the process before might be able to assist - Thanks!

You would be in the ball park at $1,500 +/- per head.

Go with HDPE. Chances are you'd change the heads 2-3 times and the controllers 2-3 times before you replace the pipe. Material is more expensive than PVC, but install is cheaper since most of the smaller lines can be plowed in.

2 million is probably a good number to start with. we are doing a 27 hole redo, approx. 160 acres, $5.5 mil

My course is currently undergoing a complete irrigation renovation. 18 holes municipal (also operate a 9 hole course that isn't included in this renovation). We are redoing everything...piping, heads, pump station, communication, the whole works. 140 acres (not all irrigated), 900 heads. PVC mainline, HDPE laterals. Watertronics pump station, Rainbird IC system.

The total price for everything with install was $1,071,000 so that comes out to about exactly $1200 per head. Midwest Irrigation out of Illinois is doing the work (excellent work by the way!)

Good luck with the planning and renovation.

Just did a complete irrigation renovation for 18 holes. Have around 70 acres irrigated, new pump station, new wet well, new pump station building, sulfur burner, and design work by consultant came out to about 1.6 million.

We are in the starting phases of a new irrigation system here. A lot of vendors are telling me to look for about $1,300 per head on the Irrigation system. After that you have to add the pump station cost. In this area a new system, single row tees, 2-row fairways and ins and outs on greens, typically runs 1.2 mill for an 18 hole course.
