Marking a circle on a putting surface Cancel The title field is required!

   I need to mark a 20 ft. diameter circle around a hole location on a par 3 green. I was thinking about using string but I would like the players who are outside the circle to be able to put across the area without disruption. Any ideas?

   I use baby powder to make the ring. Use the string like a compass and attach it to the flagstick at a 10' radius.

   I use a box of white plastic ball marks... the type that have the pin on them. We use a masons line to put them in a circle about 6" to 8" apart... it's not meant to be visible from the tee, just while their on the green. Hardest part is getting enough markers from the local golf stores!

   I did a 30" circle with baby powder last week after reading about it on this forum a few years back. I put it in a ketchup container from the restaurant and it made a really fine white circle. I will use this technique every time in the future.

   Baby powder or corn starch are the only two choices in my book. Only downside is if it rains you have to remark. But that is exactly why I use these two, irrigation at night, no more circles. The white markers sound like a good idea too, but what about ball roll outside the circle?

    I use blue dye in a 1/2 gallon hand pump sprayer. I loop one end of a rope around the flag and loop the other end around the nozzle on the sprayer then start spraying. The blue dye is gone after three or four mowing's and an irrigation cycle. You can always use a hose and wash the dye away as well.

    baby powder is what i tell them, we do not put rings out but we reccomend that they use baby powder if they want a circle.

    Blue dye, string to flag stick and a 2" paint roller, roll it on...works great.
