    Hi,

How many of you have the throw ring buoys in your lakes? I have been concerned about worker and player safety for a while now. A utility vehicle recently flipped into a lake a killed a worker at a high profile club in Europe.

We have 4 lakes where players are scooping balls on occasion and I am looking at front office to ok life ring buoys.

    Saludos Michael

Unless you had them surrounding the pond theres a chance they will not be handy when someone needs it. driving all the way to the other side of a lake to retrieve one and back may be long enough for someone to drown.

It seems like where I am at the board is more worried about setting a bad precedent by doing things such as you speak of. for instance if you saw the life bouy's you may assume it is acceptable to swim in. I think you would be better served by placing no trespassing signs in your ponds or sings that state you are not allow to get into or close to the banks of the ponds due to drowning hazards. I know some will not pay attention but at least you have warned them and it may save you from a law suit.

In the southern US buoys would not help if they were immediately available. The alligators will take you to the bottom and hold you there until you are dead anyway.

I wish we had a like button. If the gators don't get you, the mocassins will.

I used to swim with alligators that were much bigger than me when I was a kid. We swam in the Tomoka River near Daytona Beach where they filmed the Tarzan Movies. It never occurred to us that the alligators would bother us and they never did. It was almost like they were watching over us kids. We didn't know the Bull Sharks mated there. No one did. The alligators were always right there and they never bothered us.

I used to live near St. Pete on Treasure Island. I liked the beware pygmy rattler signs in areas where players would stop and look for balls.
