Does anybody know where I could find a collection device to attach to a Lely 1250? I really want to do my own granular preemergent applications but want to be absolutely sure of my application rate without having to shovel out remaining product, not to mention wasting Ronstar during the calibration process.

Get in touch with a HVAC guy (tin knocker) he should be able to put one together for you. He will use of the metal that they make duct work from. I have never seen or heard of a manufactured collection tray for a Lely.

I always dump one bag in first then mark the sides of the hopper before filling it up so we can judge from that point how much we used. I would be interested to see if they have an easier way of calibration though.

    Ricky,
That is a good idea. I will keep that in mind!

For the L1250, 3-point hitch style, I've found this to be a good start. Then, I usually throw 100# in and spread it, then figure the area covered. Adjust from there.

Why do you want to catch it? In order to calibrate you need to know how far it is throwing anyway. Just put in 1 bag and go until it runs out. Measure the distance you traveled and the width that it throws and multiply the two and you know exactly how far 1 bag goes

I think once you figure out how much you have used you should cut the rate in half and throw wheel to wheel.
