Ledge around greens Cancel The title field is required!

   Wondering if anyone else has had this situation and how you corrected it. For the past couple of years the 419 Bermuda collars around my greens are getting higher than the greens surface itself. This is resulting in a noticeable drop off when the mowers or rollers come onto the green. I am also seeing water puddling in the runoff areas of the greens. I have tried to top dress the greens and brush the sand out to try and level the areas up but that has done little to correct the problem. Any ideas are appreciated.

   There was an article about this in one of the publications about six months ago. It listed three differnt methods to remove this "hump." If I remember correctly, if you have a lip of over one inch, the recommendation was to remove the sod and regrade. Under that, core aerify with the largest tines you have on the tightest spacing you can followed by flooding it with water and rolling with the heaviest roller you've got to smash it down. I've done both methods here on my bermuda and prefer the aerification/water/roller method.

   I would say the additional topdressing is exasperating the raised areas around your greens.
   
   Ditto about the aeirifaction. We have performed this same procedure with good success. We aeirified, removed the plugs, watered, then tamped the area down with a plate compactor. There were a few areas we had to go over multiple times to achieve desired results.

   Aerification for us soaking, and 1-ton roller worked great for us
