What do you think of the natural look of the lake banks at the Manulife Financial LPGA Classic?
We started maintaining (removing noxious weeds and some trimming) our lake banks this way after being hit with Hurricanes Francis and Jeanne in 2004. We had been using $30,000 per year in day labor to do this trimming. All the hard working day labor got jobs for $20 per hour in roofing. I suggested we could try naturalizing lake banks to our Golf Advisory Board and they loved it. We used the increase in habitat to help get our Audubon Certification. I made a presentation to our City Commission and they loved it as well (as did the newspapers). Most people like the bold nature of our wildlife, but some very much do not like the lake edges. I will maintain it anyway they like, but this is what we have right now.
