Keeping palm tree roots out of new greens

    What steps can be taken during construction to keep palm tree roots from encroaching into greens cavities? Are there any herbicide barriers that can be recommended? Is there any chance that an herbicide barrier could become toxic to turf?

    Probably the best thing you could do is keep them far away from the greens or if they are close leave enough space in the construction to take a trencher annually and cut straight down from the drip line of the tree. I have seen others use plastic similar to what you would like a greens cavity with mixed results.

    We used the following during a bunker renovation to prevent roots invading select drain lines:
