I have a first generation iPad that I use every day. I have sprinkler maps, budgets, any important files that I may need in a pinch. We also have Rainbird MI so I can run the irrigation from it. We keep all our data in a Microsoft Access database which I keep synced on the IPad, it's great having all your fertilizer and chemical apps at your finger tips. There are even GPS apps that allow me to carry and use all our GPS data that was provided by GeoGolf. If it helps to keep you organized then it's well worth the expense, I find a new use every week.

I just got one recently and love it. Use it to access email, take pictures, access and make spreadsheets, posting to my blog, and I'll be using it for a presentation next week. I can't wait to use it on my irrigation system. I'm still learning how to use it, but in my opinion it is worth every penny, especially when I'm able to access my irrigation from it.

Get it and don't look back.

I can also attest to the iPads usefulness on the course. I use mine everyday. I also use it for all the items mentioned in previous posts. Spreadsheets, Word docs, budgets, maps, pictures, video, etc. If your a Mac guy. Bento is a very useful desktop and iPad/iPhone app.

What kind of case do you all use to protect your iPad? I would like to take mine to work but I worry about it getting wet or dropped.

Here is the one I use:

Doesn't turn on and off like a smart cover, but offers full protection.
It is not water proof. Maybe Otterbox has one?

Definitely try Otterbox, I have one for my iPad and it works great. Not totally waterproof, but it will cover you from a stray sprinkler head!

Playing Angry Birds on a iPad is much easier than a phone.

I'll be watching this thread closely.

Are there any turf related apps out there for chemical applications, etc?
If not, would you be interested in it if I could build one?

Sorry, not trying to hijack your thread but it could be useful info for you as well

There some apps that can help with calibration, disease ID and treatment. The apps are from U of Georgia.
Turfgrass Mngt and Turfgrass Mngt Calc. iPhone apps, but work on iPad.

If you are a Mac user the Bento Mac and iPhone/iPad app can be used together to create a database. That is what I am using now.

I am working on learning Filemaker Pro right now.

Filemaker Pro and Filemaker Go are another app pair that could work to make a spray app database.

I use Bento for Equipment Inventory, Spray Apps, Invoices(log all the paid invoices along with PO's, and a scanned image of the invoice)

I will take any and all advice out there. I would be interested in a app for chemical, inventory, fert apps, and any other management tools.

    Thanks
