Ideal Soil Temp for Dimension App Cancel The title field is required!

   I am trying to select when I would get the best bang for my buck when applying Dimension. What soil temperature have you found best for applying the product to maximize the control window? I am looking for control of goosegrass, crabgrass & sandburrs primarily. My course is in Northwest OK and there was no preemergent applied last year so I am going out with the high rate.

   I have worked with dimension for years. It tends to break down via hydrolysis, so soil temperature doesn't matter. I would focus on soil temperature measurements to help determine when crabgrass will germinate. When soil temps. hit 50-55 for a week then crab can jump on you. Down in Oklahoma that will probably be mid march. Up here in Indiana it is around the end of March. You might consider Prodiamine next season, it allows for a larger application window.    I like dimension as a split rate - 4 weeks apart to get the crab and then goose. In Philly I would go mid April and mid may. Usually did not need to do any post treatment where I applied the dimension. One full rate in may over the roughs at full rate.
   
   I used barricade mid April in a one rate app similar results.
   
   The early post treatment of crab gives you the flexibility for the control of crab.
   
   Typically I would go out right after forsythia full bloom. Right after I treated greens for hyperodes.

   It does have a WIDE window......different rates for the control at the window you choose. Sandy loam areas you will need 2 apps minimum.....depends also whether your spraying "Dimension" which has petrolium products or the WDG type which doesn't. Andersons carries some of these products under "Dithiopyr" as the A.I., and not "Dimension" which is a brand. I use the Andersons 10-3-10 w/.164% "Dithiopyr" on my greens....Penncross on one 9 and Seaside on the other. First app is in Mid Feb....@ 2.6lbs Product/M and .19lbs A.I./acre. This will carry me through mid April when we deep drill our greens and have some post emergence for any crab that might try and break through. Second application will be @ the 3.5lb product/M and .33lbs A.I./acre. The 2nd app will carry me through the entire season, the 2nd higher rate will prevent for Goosegrass also. Works for me
