Anyone familiar with the Jacobsen "Eclipse" 322 Hybrid Tri-plex greens mower. I've delt with the JD 2250 before...it sucked and I'm sure it still does. The Jac has NO hydraulics. I'm going to have one demoed for me. Seems they have gone to great links on this mower as opposed to JD....who actually made 2 problems...Major electrical and still had Hydraulics.
Any info "or" opinions, would be appreciated !

I used the Ransomes Eplex (earlier version all electric) through the 90's with good success. I guess some guys did not, but mine were fine and my crew really enjoyed the quiet in the morning.

There are two Jac's sitting at my former course in Florida, and nothing but problems with them. I hear they can not even go out with them cause they come back in within the hour, and sit waiting for someone to come and look at them from the warranty department. As for the Deere units you mentioned, I have no experience with them. However, I do run mostly all Deere hybrid mowers. 2500E triplex, hours range from 200 to 700 and we have no problems. We also use the 7500E on our fairways and we have had very few problems. I have had the Jac E-walks, and Eclipse, and been running Deere hybrids for over a year, and I can assure you that Deere has, is, and will be putting forward thinking into their hybrid mowers. I guess it all boils down to setup, service and support from your local dealers. I personally have had great luck with both the Jacobsen and Deere hybrids and electrics.

    Turfman,

We have the Eclipse 322. Worked great when we first got it. In less than a year we have had multiple problems with the machine. We are having to bring it in after each nine to re-check the HOC. We added lock nuts on the adjustment and have done some other fine tuning and are still having issues with it striping. We have had the reels and bedknives on the SIP grinders multiple times and still having issues. With that being said we've converted back to our Toro 3150.

Have you had any technical service reps on sight to help you? Just spoke with a Super from Louisiana that said he hasn't had but a couple of issue's and they came out and fixed him up. He says he loves it....He is also Burmuda greens and his HOC is much higher than mine....I'm bent and I mow from .120 to .114...My rep said he would stand behind this 120% and I'll hold him to it.."business before friendship", and he knows I will have them come and pick it up and null and void any and all contractual obligations if it doesn't.

I am avoiding the hybrids for a couple more years until they get the rest of the kinks worked out. I have yet to have a salesman or manufacturer rep assure me that the electric motor will run the verticutters the way I want it to run on my greens.

My current 3150-Q's are relatively quiet and have and cut great. I've had the DPA reels in the .080's plenty with no problems.

    Turfman,

He's coming out tomorrow to check it out. I'm sure it's something simple that myself and the mechanic is overlooking. We are Tifdwarf Bermuda @ .140. Apparently there are some adjustments that can be made that I was unaware of. The computer system on the dash is very helpful for setting up your frequency of cut, speed while mowing, transporting, verti-cutting and backlapping. If there is something wrong with any of the reels a siren will will indicate which reel is having the issue. Checking the HOC for all three reels takes 10 min. or less. All in all the eclipse is a great machine. Like I said it's probably some minor adjustment that we are overlooking. I think you'll be more than happy with your purchase. Good luck!

I demoed one last fall and the cut was extremely good. I ended up back with Toro though for serice reasons. If it's JUST a quality of cut question I'd go Jac based on the Demo. But I don't have long term experience with it.

We have had the Jacobsen eclipse 322 for 2 years now and have loved it from the start. We are mowing our greens with it in 3 hours and never having a charge problem. We cut 21 holes of bent grass a little over 3 acres worth everyday with it. The crew loves it because of the quiet morning also. Its worth a demo for sure. Id like to have about 2 more for our tees.
