Rather than attempt to post a picture...I've posted a link to my web page:

    http://sanctuarygcgrounds.blogspot.com/

    3.55" in 4 days

    So how's your day going?

Just short of 5" in less than 24 hours here in Riverside Iowa. Both of the nearby rivers came up 10-13' overnight. Oh what a difference a year can make!

You would fit right in with us here in Florida. I've had 3"+ in a few hours here several times with the same results you are seeing.

Me and my assistant boating out to our pumphouse last June after 9" of rain over 2 days. Ended up with 15.88" for the month.

    I feel your pain.

We had over 5" rain here in North side of Chicago, one hole completely under water. All you could see was the green as the water was flowing away! Several other lakes enlarged covering fairways and such! For the month we are posting record in rainfall, we have mowed everything once, too twice, it will be awhile to let it dry out before we can do it again! We had course well cleaned up also, but looks like we will be doing it again in several areas for sure! No doubt work is cut out for us, bunkers washed out, but spring last year was very dry and warmer than normal. So be careful what you ask for as you might get more than you ask for! All you can do is clean it up and do the best you can, Mother nature rules!

Right on the Illinois/Iowa border in the Quad Cities we got 5.25" in a little over 24 hours and we were already saturated from rain the last two weeks and 2" earlier this week. The clay here really helps though. 1250 rounds under ytd from last year. Isn't there a happy medium anymore? Look at the bright side its not in the 80's and 90's already.

I just thought I would add a post to the blog also.. In 30 years, have had much worse, but in a year where the weather has been terrible, rounds way down, and the bean counters more than concerned, we did not need this.

You're telling me. Need a sem-retired fairway mower guy down there?

Up in SE Wisconsin I'm not sure how much rain we got because the rain gauge went under water yesterday. Much of the course sits in the flood plain and this is the first time in 4 years that I've experienced the mighty Pike River come out of it's banks. Approximately 50 acres under water yesterday and probably still about 10 under today, #'s 2, 4, and PPG submerged and PPG was under 3' of water, front half of #'s 9, 10, and 16 under water. Pump station partially flooded so not going to turn that on so we are running 2" trash pumps from the river and reducing them down at the greens to wash the silt off.

So far today we have had wind all day, some sun and some sleet/snow. It's been interesting but different challenges is part of what I love about the job.

It is a moot point, I got my Primo/Proxy down Tuesday.....

The guy who actually designed this fishbowl actually got all the elevations on the putting surfaces correct. 17 seasons, at least 5- 500 year flood events. This one will probably rank #3 of the top 5. I haven't ventured across the creek and do an elevation measurement yet. Rainfall directly here is near 4". At the crest of the water, 17 freeway had about 48" on it.

Spent the day pumping the front nine bunkers and plowing sand, along with fixing the bridge on the 6th hole....

My problems stem the fact the course is bordered by the only main creek in the area, and it is the main drainage tributary from the east of us. And next to my #15 Green, 2 creeks merge....Had about 80 acres go under, now down to 40ish....

Had 4 controllers take a swim, 3 look OK, the 4th had an electrical issue in it and there are burn marks in the front cover. Could be a lightning issue, so I'll order 6 communication lightning surge suppressors and go from there. Take my spare box of irrigation components out and go from there, that's Monday's issue to deal with. Last time, the bill was about 2K for parts and repairs.

And finally...clubhouse was asked if the front nine will be available on Sunday...

As for my head, it is above water today.

Ours went pretty good on Thursday, was on vacation in Dayton Ohio, helping out our son's winter drumline for their Worlds Competition. Was fairly nice on Thursday morning for our Preliminaries, Thursday evening for semi's was a little more windy, but they did their performance and we loaded the truck and bus before any rain. Made finals, all rain had moved through Dayton and it was just cold and windy. Great trip, proud of the kids, second year in a row in finals for their class and a 9th place finish.

We did see all the extra rain in Illinois on the trip back and water coming down the Mississippi. Sorry to see that for you guys. Had 1 1/2" in the rain gauge back home. Not too bad.

Could you guys send some of that moisture out to the desert southwest and SoCal? We are going to have a bad, dry, hot summer with severe fire risk until about late November. I would be happy to stockpile several millions of those gallons!

You had better put the dome up before the end of May. I will be visiting family in Iowa and we have intentions of playing a round at your facility! Can't have you flooded out!
