Although I am most concerned with the transistion zone on bermuda, other areas wouldn't be bad either so please all if you want to chime in would be great?
We currently the past two seasons have been using only 1.35 lbs. of Nitrogen per season on our quickstand bermuda fairways. The product just has nitrogen in it along with dimension and acelypryn. I don't think this is enough fertilizer and I also would like to put some potassium out as well. The fairways just don't seem to perform that well, say compared to our tees, where we regularly put out 3 lbs. of Nitrogen per season along with some P, K, and iron. Not that I think we need 3 lbs. of N on fairways, but at least 2 lbs would be nice, I know the couple of seasons before the switch to our current product we would put down a product with 1.9 lbs of Nitrogen and barricade, but we didn't think we got all of that nitrogen, since we would apply it in late March, (our current application is early May, so we think we get a bigger bang for our buck). Our bermuda doesn't really green up (depending on the year) till mid to late April, and growth doesn't really start until mid-May.
Also are there any opinions about using Primo on fairways thinking the little bit slower growth would help get more bang for our buck as well?
My dream application would be the 1.35 lbs. of nitrogen in May, an additional application of between .84 to 1.12 pounds of N with a 28-3-10 product with iron (what we use on our tees) in mid June to early July, and a high K product like 10-0-40 or similar in early August (putting down .10 to .25 lbs. of N). Just wondering what you all might be doing?
Thanks!
Mel
