Although I am most concerned with the transistion zone on bermuda, other areas wouldn't be bad either so please all if you want to chime in would be great?

We currently the past two seasons have been using only 1.35 lbs. of Nitrogen per season on our quickstand bermuda fairways. The product just has nitrogen in it along with dimension and acelypryn. I don't think this is enough fertilizer and I also would like to put some potassium out as well. The fairways just don't seem to perform that well, say compared to our tees, where we regularly put out 3 lbs. of Nitrogen per season along with some P, K, and iron. Not that I think we need 3 lbs. of N on fairways, but at least 2 lbs would be nice, I know the couple of seasons before the switch to our current product we would put down a product with 1.9 lbs of Nitrogen and barricade, but we didn't think we got all of that nitrogen, since we would apply it in late March, (our current application is early May, so we think we get a bigger bang for our buck). Our bermuda doesn't really green up (depending on the year) till mid to late April, and growth doesn't really start until mid-May.

Also are there any opinions about using Primo on fairways thinking the little bit slower growth would help get more bang for our buck as well?

My dream application would be the 1.35 lbs. of nitrogen in May, an additional application of between .84 to 1.12 pounds of N with a 28-3-10 product with iron (what we use on our tees) in mid June to early July, and a high K product like 10-0-40 or similar in early August (putting down .10 to .25 lbs. of N). Just wondering what you all might be doing?

    Thanks!

I am overseeded and in SC. I apply 2 lbs N, 1 lb. P, 2 lbs. K. 25% of my N is granular and 75% is foliar. P is all granular and K is 50 % each. My divots heal quickly and I am not bailing hay during the summer months on my 419 bermuda. Most of my N is applied during overseeding and I maintain great color year round. Now, I use some very basic N sources on my overseeding and I spend about half on fertilizer as most places in my area do. I personally don't feel like how much you apply but rather what you are applying that really matters. Since going foliar I have reduced my N by half and have saved some money but most important, my grass looks better and is healthier than ever and I feel more environmentally aware because of it. I also Primo fairways during the summer which again, to me, seems to make them hold color better. I do the same fertilization on tees, fairways, approaches and aprons. 30 acres and I spend less than $500 per acre on these areas per year on fertilizer. But again, it is a very basic program, nothing fancy here.

I also overseed here in California, I found a good number to work with is 150-175 lbs of N per Acre a year on sand loam soils. 3 applications of Urea as a base and 1 application of CAN 27-0-0 after overseed and frost. I spray my fairways with "K" this month because this month we grow most of our bermuda base. I have 200 acres to feed so 2 bags an Acre works for me. I have 18 holes improved common fairways and rough, 9 hole holes of 419, 6 acres of 328 tee boxes. The 328 tees don't need too much fertilizer. I also factor some irrigation water with nitrate nitrogen and I factor some (ENR) estimated nitrogen release from the mineralization of soil organic matter from the recycled chippings and dead ryegrass.

    Mel,

I have Midlawn in southern Indiana. This season I am sitting at 2lbs of N. I am using Redox this season also. My typical program before was about 3 lbs of N. This season I did not apply granular urea like normal so there is the lb difference. I applied 1 granular this year in the form of MESA 25-0-3. Great product for fill in of weak areas. I feed .25lbs of N monthly with my primo and RX applications. The RX seems to have some positives. Less dollar spot, prolonged leaf color(the primo helps also). Members have raved about the condition of our fairways this season, which is odd because we didn't have the best Bermuda growing weather early on to get them going.

In the 5 years of being here I have not gone over 3 lbs of N on our fairways. The monthly apps around .25 lbs seem to provide a healthy plant for us. Also, I have never put a broadcast K app out. Never had any issues also.

    Mel,

Low budget course with common bermuda in OK, put out 1.5 lb N Uflexx in mid-May and then put out .5 N quick release in late July this year. Last two years only put 1.5 lb total out due to drought conditions and water restrictions. I spray Primo at 12 oz/acre every 3 to 4 weeks, could not do without it unless we get dry.
