Our greens are 6 year declaration bentgrass on straight sand. I'm trying to pull 1/2" cores. The problem I've been having is some of the cores get stuck half way out the hole in the green. I've tried different depths and speeds, and had no luck. I'm using top eject hollow tines, was wondering if side eject tines would be any better or if you guys had any other ideas. thx

Never liked 1/2" tines for that exact reason. I just went to the 9/16" tines and never had that problem again.

I've used the side eject carbide tip from JRM with good results.

CTI carbide tip side eject tines work well for us. A thinner tine wall results in a larger core diameter and a more effective aerification by removing more material. Also It seems the holes are easier to topdress and recover faster. We get multiple aerifications out of these tines as well. Check them out I think you'll like them.

I'd agree with all the above. Side Eject is the way to go.

We use 1/2 x 5 inch CTS Carbide Tiped Side Eject. We can do 19 native soil penncross/poa greens plus collars with 2 sets, I have two Aercore 800s with quad blocks. The only time I remotely see what your talking about is when we get pushed into having to aerate when the green are too wet.
